As technology evolves, it reaches thresholds where new things suddenly become possible. The Advanced User Interface Lab looks at how these thresholds create new and exciting possibilities for improving the user experience. Our work is a combination of pure and applied research into improving Web sites and applications. Often the work is an outcome of specific projects; sometimes it's a byproduct of trend analysis. Our goals are to do things that have never been possible on the Web before, and to improve the usefulness, ease of use, and enjoyment of the Web for users.

Balancing out what is useful is all a matter of listening to end users. Many great technological solutions, from Betamax video to Digital Audio Tape, have not been adopted by consumers. Innovation does not equal success. Users have to value the improvements, and see how they meet their needs. The lab helps our clients by providing a breeding ground for out-of-box thinking and advanced design and technology work for specific projects. Our research in the lab is also a form of continuing education for us, and a way to keep our sights firmly set on the future.
